we’ve been including people with disabilities in recreation opportunities in Jackson Hole Since 2005!

About Teton Adaptive & Its Core Values

Teton Adaptive is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to develop recreation opportunities for people with disabilities living in and visiting the Greater Teton Area. Teton Adaptive serves individuals living in and traveling to the Greater Teton Area who have physical, developmental or  cognitive disabilities.

Since Teton Adaptive was founded in 2005, the organization continues to push the envelope on inclusion and accessibility in the outdoor industry in order to afford individuals with disabilities the same opportunities to experience the Tetons as their able-bodied family members and friends. This has allowed visitors from across the United States, as well as those traveling internationally to participate in adaptive adventure sports and leisure opportunities in Jackson Hole such as alpine and nordic skiing, paragliding, mountain biking, road cycling, paddling, sled hockey, hiking and more.

At Teton Adaptive, we believe in outdoor recreation that includes all abilities. We strive for equal access to opportunities to improve quality of life. That’s what outdoor recreation is about!

iNCLUSION

As members of our community, adaptive athletes should have the same access to recreation as anyone else. We believe that separate is not equal. We strive to broaden possibilities for every current and prospective participant in the Greater Teton Area.

RECREATION

It’s all about fun! When we are outside connecting with our environment, learning new ways to cover ground and spending quality time with the people we care about, our lives and our health improve. Teton Adaptive is in the quality of life business.

OPPORTUNITY

Inclusivity covers all aspects of our community regardless of identity or financial standing and we strive to make it more welcoming. By providing scholarships, programming, training, and accessible equipment we expand opportunities for more inclusion in a historically inaccessible world.

Help us soar by making a donation.

  • Teton Adaptive doesn’t have instructors, per se, but sometimes our staff act as instructors. In our model, we often support other organizations and their instructors give lessons or guide people with disabilities. An example of this is Jackson Hole Mountain Resort whose instructors take people with disabilities skiing while Teton Adaptive supports their training, helps with specialized equipment and fundraises for scholarships.

Teton Adaptive History

Teton Adaptive was founded in 2005 to make skiing more accessible at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) in Teton Village, Wyoming. Locals and employees noticed a need for inclusion in skiing at the resort, and Teton Adaptive was created as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to provide financial support and resources for the new adaptive ski programs growing at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and  Grand Targhee Resort.

Since then, Teton Adaptive has expanded to provide support for year-round programming in a large variety of activities such as climbing, camping, hiking, cycling, alpine and nordic skiing, paddling, paragliding, ice skating, sled hockey and even mountain biking back on the hill at JHMR!
