Our Growing Partnership with Sage Living

What started as a simple trek around the Rec Center track has grown into something so much more. Over the past few months, we’ve had the joy of partnering with Sage Living and Teton Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation to bring meaningful, adaptive movement opportunities to the residents of Sage Living.

At first, the program looked pretty straightforward: get people moving around the track, using adaptive bikes, wheelchairs, or walking supports as needed. But very quickly, it became clear that this was about much more than laps. Each outing became a celebration of independence, laughter, and connection. What began with walking and biking has since blossomed into a full spectrum of movement experiences—skiing adventures this past winter and enthusiastic attendance at every single adaptive yoga class offered this year.

Twice a month, the Teton County Parks and Rec transforms. Some days, the track hums with the steady rhythm of wheels, walkers, and feet circling together in harmony. Other days, the energy shifts to calm and focus as yoga mats roll out, and the room fills with soft breathing and gentle stretches. For Sage Living residents, these gatherings are not only a chance to move their bodies but also a chance to connect—with one another, with volunteers, and with a broader community that truly sees them.

The beauty of this partnership lies in its inclusivity. By opening the track to residents and offering access to adaptive mobility devices, we’ve created a space where people can show up exactly as they are. There’s no pressure to be fast or strong—just an invitation to participate. That simple invitation has sparked a ripple effect. This winter, several residents who began on the track joined us on the snow, trying adaptive skiing for the first time. Their wide grins told the story better than words ever could: joy is contagious when barriers fall away.

The same is true in yoga. Week after week, Sage Living residents have stretched, breathed, and grown more confident in what their bodies are capable of. One participant shared how yoga helps her “feel young again.” Another remarked that just being included makes all the difference. These are quiet victories, but they’re powerful reminders that movement is about more than muscles—it’s about belonging.

Moments like these—on the mat, on the snow, or circling the track—aren’t just about exercise. They’re about building a community where everyone is welcome. They’re about proving, again and again, that movement is for every body, and that joy multiplies when it’s shared.

We’re so proud of what this partnership has become, and even more excited about where it’s going. We can already see new friendships forming, new adventures on the horizon, and new opportunities for residents to keep challenging what’s possible.

So next time you see the Sage Living crew out and about—whether they’re circling the track, rolling down a ski slope, or flowing through yoga poses—don’t hesitate to say hello. Chances are, they’ll greet you with a smile, a story, and maybe even an invite to join the next lap.

Because in the end, that’s what this is all about: not just moving, but moving forward—together.
